Western AI Adoption Strategies Face Challenges in Southeast Asia
Western strategies for AI adoption may not be effective in Southeast Asia, according to Marta Lajmi of Accenture. The region's unique dynamics, including a young, digitally native workforce and proactive government involvement, require a different approach. Accenture's research indicates that leadership support is crucial for AI upskilling, with nearly half of Singaporean employees citing its absence as a barrier. The region's governments are actively promoting AI through national strategies, providing a foundation for organizations to build upon. However, the transition to a skills-based system is challenged by existing HR structures that prioritize tenure over skills.
