The list, titled '250 for 250', includes works published from 1776 to 2025, reflecting diverse perspectives on American history and storytelling. The selection process involved a committee of nearly two dozen librarians who considered over 600 books. Notable figures such as Ethan Hawke and Constance Wu contributed essays on selected books, highlighting their significance. The initiative aims to showcase the wide range of American voices and stories that have shaped the nation.
