US Army Receives New Lightweight Javelin Launchers to Enhance Combat Efficiency
The U.S. Army has received its first batch of new, lightweight Javelin launchers, developed by defense contractor RTX in collaboration with Lockheed Martin. The Lightweight Command Launch Unit (LWCLU) is designed to replace older, heavier units, offering improved target detection range and enhanced portability. The new launchers are 30% smaller and 25% lighter, allowing for greater maneuverability and effectiveness in combat situations. The Javelin system, known for its role in Ukraine's defense against Russia, is a critical component of the U.S. military's arsenal, capable of being fired from the shoulder or mounted on vehicles.
