Bethel Bakery Seeks Parking Expansion Amid Community Concerns
Bethel Bakery, a well-known establishment in Bethel Park, is seeking a variance approval to expand its parking facilities. The bakery, which sees a high volume of customers, is located in a busy area off South Park Road. John Walsh, a senior adviser at Bethel Bakery, highlighted the need for additional parking to accommodate both customers and employees, who currently face challenges due to limited parking space. The proposed expansion involves converting a nearby residential property owned by Walsh and his wife into a parking lot. However, this plan has met with some resistance from local residents, including Sam David, who expressed concerns about maintaining the residential nature of the street. The variance request will be considered at an upcoming public zoning and hearing board meeting.
