Scattered Thunderstorms and Cooler Temperatures Expected in Denver Area
The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, Colorado, has issued a forecast indicating scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms through at least Thursday, August 27, 2026. A weak frontal boundary, associated with an upper-level shortwave, is moving through the area, bringing slightly cooler temperatures. Highs are expected to remain in the upper 80s °F (approximately 31 °C) today, just below the 90 °F (32 °C) mark. Northeasterly winds are anticipated by early afternoon, promoting upslope flow and another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Convective initiation timing remains uncertain, with some models suggesting high-based thunderstorms as early as 1:00 PM MDT (19Z).
