TikTok has agreed to a $100 million settlement with the state of Alabama, concluding a lawsuit that accused the platform of designing features to encourage excessive youth engagement. This agreement, finalized just before a jury trial, marks TikTok's first settlement with a U.S. state. Alabama will receive the initial $100 million within 45 days, with potential additional payments of up to $300 million if TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance, fail to meet the new requirements. The settlement immediately implements a two-hour daily usage limit for children in Alabama, along with blocking access during school and overnight hours.
