Slovak Fugitive Arrested at Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics
A Slovak fugitive, on the run for 16 years, was arrested in Milan while attending the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics to support his national ice hockey team. The 44-year-old man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was wanted by Italian authorities for a series of thefts committed in 2010. He was apprehended by the carabinieri, Italy's military police, after an automatic alert was triggered when he checked into a campsite on the outskirts of Milan. The fugitive was subsequently taken to Milan's San Vittore prison to serve a pending sentence of 11 months and 7 days.
