Garbage Fire at Hillsboro Waste Management Facility Sparks Nearby Brush Fire
A garbage fire broke out at the Waste Management facility outside of Hillsboro, Oregon, on Saturday afternoon. The fire, reported around 4:30 p.m., was located off SE Minter Bridge Road. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews quickly responded, establishing a line around the trash fire to contain it. However, embers from the garbage fire ignited a brush fire in an adjacent field, prompting additional firefighting efforts. No injuries have been reported, but large columns of smoke were visible from the area, leading officials to advise the public to avoid the vicinity.
