Evanston Residents Urged to Shelter in Place Following Gas Line Break
A gas line break in Evanston, Illinois, prompted local authorities to advise residents to shelter in place. The incident occurred in front of 2145 Ridge Avenue, leading to a temporary evacuation of the area from Noyes Street to Simpson Avenue. The Evanston Fire Department responded promptly to manage the situation, and the gas leak was stopped by Friday afternoon. NICOR, the utility company, remained on site to conduct necessary repairs, which were expected to take several hours.
