French Government Agency Confirms Data Breach Potentially Affecting Millions
The Agence Nationale des Titres Sécurisés (ANTS), the French government agency responsible for managing citizens' identity documents, has confirmed a data breach. The breach, detected on April 15, may have exposed personal information such as full names, birth dates and places, mailing and email addresses, and phone numbers of an undisclosed number of citizens. While the exact number of affected individuals is not specified, reports suggest that millions could be impacted. A hacker has reportedly advertised the stolen data on a forum, claiming to possess a database with 19 million records. ANTS is currently investigating the breach to understand its full impact and is notifying those affected.
