CVSA Implements New Out-of-Service Criteria to Enhance Vehicle Safety
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has implemented its 2026 North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria, effective April 1. The updated criteria include 17 changes that impact driver and vehicle compliance checks. Key updates involve revisions to license and CDL sections, alcohol possession rules, and expanded ELD-related violations. The criteria also address brake system updates, cargo securement, and coupling device standards. These changes aim to improve safety and compliance across North America's commercial motor vehicle industry.
