USCIS Implements Remote Work for New Homeland Defender Recruits Amid Recruitment Drive
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has initiated a recruitment campaign for a new role titled 'Homeland Defender.' This position is designed to bolster national security and immigration services. According to a former USCIS official, the recruitment process has been expedited through Direct Hire Authority, allowing for quicker onboarding of personnel. Many of these new recruits are expected to work remotely, a shift from traditional field office assignments. The campaign has attracted over 50,000 applications, with more than 700 positions already filled. The role involves interviewing applicants, reviewing immigration benefit requests, and conducting security checks. The recruitment drive is part of a broader strategy to enhance national security and immigration enforcement, with messaging emphasizing protection against criminal aliens and mass violence.
