Elevated Wildfire Smoke Observed Over Minnesota, Minimal Surface Impact
According to WCCO meteorologist Mike Augustyniak, elevated levels of wildfire smoke were observed over Minnesota as of July 28, 2026. The smoke is expected to remain aloft, with limited impacts on air quality at the surface. This phenomenon is attributed to wildfires occurring in regions upwind of Minnesota, with the smoke being carried into the area by prevailing winds. While the smoke may cause hazy skies, it is not anticipated to significantly affect ground-level air quality or visibility.
