CMMI's ACCESS Model Aims to Transform Chronic Care with Technology and AI
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) has launched the Advancing Chronic Care with Effective Scalable Solutions (ACCESS) Model, a 10-year program designed to enhance chronic condition management through technology and artificial intelligence. The initiative involves 150 digital health companies and aims to provide stable payments for technology used in treating conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and depression. The ACCESS Model seeks to align with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' goal of integrating all traditional Medicare beneficiaries into accountable care relationships by 2030. The program introduces a new category of Medicare Part B providers, known as ACCESS organizations, which will receive outcome-aligned payments for managing chronic conditions.
