FCC to Review Disney's ABC Licenses Following Kimmel's Melania Trump Joke
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has ordered an early review of Disney's ABC broadcast licenses after a controversial joke by Jimmy Kimmel about First Lady Melania Trump. The joke, made during a parody of the White House Correspondents' Dinner, led to public backlash from President Trump, who called for Kimmel's firing. The FCC's review will focus on eight ABC stations across major U.S. markets and is linked to an ongoing investigation into Disney's diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Disney is required to submit license renewals by May 28, ahead of the original schedule.
