Study Reveals Ancient Ice Sheets Influenced Australia's Climate
A new study published in 'Climate of the Past' reveals that during the last ice age, massive ice sheets in North America significantly influenced Australia's climate. These ice sheets, which covered much of present-day Canada and parts of the northern United States, altered global wind patterns and shifted the tropical rainfall belt southward. This resulted in increased summer rainfall across much of Australia. The study highlights the interconnectedness of Earth's climate systems and the far-reaching impact of changes in one region on another.
