Sheikh Zayed Book Award Expands Arabic Literature Through Translation Funding
The Sheikh Zayed Book Award has launched a translation funding initiative aimed at promoting Arabic literature globally. Established in 2018, this initiative provides financial support of up to $19,000 per title to publishers outside the Middle East. The funding is available for both winning and shortlisted titles in the Literature and Children’s categories. This year, notable works include 'Births in the Zoo' by Ashraf Elashmawy, a satirical allegory of Egyptian society, and 'Fourrure' by Nizar Abdulsattar, which explores themes of legacy and art markets.
