Volunteers to Plant 20 New Trees at Spring Lake Park for Environmental Enhancement
A community event is scheduled for May 16, 2026, at Spring Lake Park in Petoskey, where volunteers are invited to plant 20 new trees. This initiative is part of a park renovation project aimed at creating a natural buffer between the park and the road, as well as improving water filtration. The event, organized by ReLeaf Michigan in partnership with Bear Creek Township and the DTE Energy Foundation, will begin at 8:45 a.m. and is expected to last until noon. Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and bring tools such as shovels and rakes. The event is open to families and does not require prior planting experience. It will proceed regardless of weather conditions.
