UConn Opens First Downtown Hartford Residence Hall to Full Capacity
The University of Connecticut (UConn) has successfully opened its first downtown Hartford residence hall, located at 64 Pratt Street, to full capacity. The $28.9 million redevelopment project, a collaboration between UConn, developers, and local business leaders, aims to provide a traditional residential college experience for students attending the Hartford campus. The residence hall, which includes 45 furnished apartments, has already filled all 202 available beds, with more than 50 students on a waiting list. The project is part of a broader effort to revitalize downtown Hartford by increasing foot traffic and supporting local businesses. The development was supported by a combination of loans and grants, including contributions from Hartford employers like Travelers and The Hartford, which provided scholarships to help offset housing costs for students.
