Sydney Summers Lengthen: Climate Change Extends Warm Season
A study published in Environmental Research Letters reveals that summers are becoming longer and more intense, particularly in Sydney, Australia. The research, conducted by scientists including Ted Scott from the University of British Columbia, analyzed temperature trends in 10 global cities. It found that summer conditions are arriving earlier, lasting longer, and feeling more intense due to human-induced global heating. Sydney's summer period is increasing by approximately 15 days per decade, significantly above the global average of six days. This shift is attributed to climate change, with summers starting earlier and ending later than in previous decades.
