Thunderstorms over northern Kansas and northwest Missouri are expected to dissipate later this morning, but residual upper energy will move southeast into the Ozarks this afternoon, increasing cloud cover. Southern Missouri, including Springfield, remains under an Extreme Heat Warning today, though incoming clouds may prevent temperatures from reaching warning criteria. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, with heavy rain likely in some areas. Over the next few days, the region will experience cooler temperatures, with highs in the upper 80s on Wednesday and Thursday, as scattered storms continue to develop. By the weekend, an upper low pressure system will bring lower humidity and cooler temperatures to eastern Missouri, with highs returning to average early next week. (KY3)
