U.S. Department of Transportation Unveils 2026 National Freight Strategic Plan to Enhance Supply Chain Infrastructure
The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) has introduced the 2026 National Freight Strategic Plan, a comprehensive roadmap aimed at improving the nation's freight network. This plan, which builds on the 2020 National Freight Strategic Plan, focuses on enhancing safety, efficiency, security, resiliency, innovation, and workforce development across the nearly 7-million-mile freight network. Key initiatives include reducing freight bottlenecks, improving supply chain visibility, and streamlining federal project reviews. The plan also emphasizes the adoption of advanced freight technologies and digital freight data standards. Additionally, the BUILD America 250 Act, a bipartisan legislative proposal, aims to invest in the nation's roads, bridges, and rail transportation, marking the largest investment in America's bridges to date.
