The tickets were provided by the Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation, a governmental entity responsible for managing the NRG Stadium where both events took place. Guzmán, a four-time Emmy Award winner, was removed from her on-air duties while the station conducts an internal investigation into potential conflicts of interest. The controversy arose when it was discovered that Guzmán was among several high-profile individuals who received complimentary tickets. The station's general manager, Sean McLaughlin, emphasized the importance of journalistic ethics and the need to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.
