Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 Rocket Achieves Milestone in Indian Private Space Sector
Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based company, successfully launched its Vikram-1 rocket, marking the first time a private Indian company has reached orbit. This achievement places India as the third country, after the United States and China, to have a domestic private-sector orbital launch capability. The mission, named Aagman, carried six payloads into low Earth orbit, including a robotic arm for space debris capture and an Earth-observation camera. The launch is part of India's broader ambitions in space exploration, with plans for a crewed orbital flight next year and a national space station by 2035. Skyroot, founded by former ISRO engineers, aims to provide on-demand access to space, targeting the small-satellite market.
