China Enforces New Rules Against Foreign Jurisdiction, Targets EU Probe
China has implemented new regulations to counter what it perceives as improper foreign jurisdiction over its companies, marking the first use of these rules in response to an EU investigation into Nuctech, a Chinese security equipment firm. The EU's probe, under its Foreign Subsidies Regulation, is scrutinizing Nuctech for alleged unfair advantages due to Chinese government subsidies. In response, China has barred cooperation with the EU's investigation, citing overreach and unnecessary demands for information. This move is part of China's broader strategy to protect its firms from foreign economic pressures and assert its legal framework against perceived extraterritorial jurisdiction.
