Functional Strength Training Recommended for Improving Bone Density in Osteopenia and Osteoporosis
Functional strength training, involving progressive resistance and impact exercises, is being highlighted as the gold standard for building and preserving bone mineral density in individuals with osteopenia and osteoporosis. Unlike general activities such as walking, swimming, or light resistance bands, which primarily support cardiovascular health and joint mobility, functional strength training applies sufficient mechanical load to stimulate bone remodeling.
