London Bids for 2029 World Athletics Championships with Economic Boost in Sight
London has officially submitted its bid to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships. The bid is spearheaded by Athletic Ventures, a collaboration between UK Athletics, London Marathon Events, and the Great Run Company. The proposed venue is the London Stadium, originally built for the 2012 Olympics. A feasibility study suggests the event could generate a £400 million economic benefit. The UK Government and West Ham United, whose home games are played at the London Stadium, have expressed their support for the bid. The decision on the host city will be announced in September.
