World Food Programme Faces Criticism Over Palantir Contract Amid Privacy Concerns
The World Food Programme (WFP) is under scrutiny for its decision to renew a five-year contract with Palantir, an American software company, despite privacy concerns raised in a leaked 2025 audit. The WFP, which manages one of the largest biometric databases globally, uses Palantir's Digital Operations and Transformation System (Dots) to optimize its humanitarian logistics. However, a recent cyberattack exposed sensitive data of aid beneficiaries, intensifying debates over data protection. The audit highlighted inadequate risk management and lack of proper data protection guidelines in the WFP-Palantir relationship. Despite these issues, the WFP is proceeding with the contract renewal, a move that has sparked internal and external criticism.
