Severe Thunderstorms to Impact Central and Eastern US Through Late Week
Severe thunderstorms are forecast to stretch from Texas to New England through the end of the week, bringing damaging wind gusts, hail, and localized flash flooding. According to AccuWeather, the storms will affect major urban areas along the Interstate 95 corridor, including Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C., as well as parts of the Midwest and South. The storms are expected to be less intense than earlier outbreaks but could still cause property damage, crop losses, and power outages. Additional severe weather is anticipated in West Texas and eastern New Mexico, with hail the size of golf balls or larger and wind gusts reaching up to 85 mph. The storms are also expected to bring much-needed rain to drought-stricken areas, though the risk of flash flooding remains high.
