Commercial Driver's License Crackdowns Reveal Impaired Drivers, Unsafe Equipment, and False Logs Across U.S. and Canada
Recent commercial vehicle enforcement operations across the U.S. and Canada have led to numerous trucks and drivers being placed out of service due to violations. These violations include unsafe brakes, false logs, impaired driving, speeding, and unsecured cargo. Enforcement actions in Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana, Ontario, and British Columbia highlight increased roadside scrutiny. For instance, New Mexico State Police conducted 153 commercial vehicle safety inspections, resulting in 20 vehicles and seven drivers being placed out of service, and 62 commercial motor vehicle citations issued. In Lincoln, Ontario, a multi-agency safety blitz inspected 25 commercial vehicles, placing 16 (64%) out of service and issuing 29 Provincial Offence Notices for issues like brake adjustments, load securement, and false logs.
