Senator Tim Scott Leads Bipartisan Effort to Reauthorize African American Civil Rights Network
Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), alongside Congressman Jim Clyburn (D-SC), Congressman Mike Carey (R-OH), and Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), is spearheading a bipartisan and bicameral initiative to reauthorize the African American Civil Rights Network (AACRN). This National Park Service program, established in 2018 through bipartisan legislation, connects over 130 National Park Service units, non-federal historic sites, and research programs dedicated to commemorating and interpreting the history of the modern Civil Rights Movement. The network's reauthorization is critically needed after the program lapsed in January 2025, which has prevented numerous sites across the nation from joining and participating. The reauthorization aims to ensure the continued operation of this national network, fostering public awareness and providing technical assistance to its members.
