Community Colleges Play Key Role in Preparing Workforce for Quantum Technology Revolution
Community colleges across the United States are increasingly recognized as vital players in preparing the workforce for the emerging quantum technology sector. As investments in quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, energy, and cybersecurity accelerate, the need for a skilled workforce to deploy and maintain these technologies becomes critical. The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) recently hosted the Southern Maryland Regional Quantum Forum, which brought together educators, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to discuss workforce development in quantum technology. This forum emphasized the importance of collaboration between education, industry, and government to create pathways for students and workers to enter these cutting-edge fields. Community colleges are seen as essential in this ecosystem, providing accessible, workforce-aligned education that connects students to high-impact careers.
