Qatar Advances Autonomous Taxi Pilot with Successful Trial Completion
Qatar's Ministry of Transport has announced the successful completion of over 2,500 trial trips in the first phase of its autonomous electric taxi pilot, achieving a 94% success rate without human intervention. The pilot, conducted with Mowasalat (Karwa), tested the operational, technical, and regulatory aspects of the technology. The success of this phase paves the way for the second phase, which will involve full operation without drivers. The initiative is part of Qatar's Transportation Master Plan for 2050, aiming to enhance infrastructure, reduce emissions, and position Qatar as a leader in sustainable transport.
