Boone County Residents Voice Concerns Over Proposed 340-Unit Apartment Development
A Boone County Planning Commission meeting saw nearly 200 residents gather to discuss a proposed apartment development that would add 340 units to the U.S. 42 corridor in Northern Kentucky. The development plan involves the city of Florence annexing land between Florence and Union, with the construction of several apartment buildings and 600 parking spaces. Residents expressed concerns primarily about the potential increase in traffic congestion, particularly on U.S. 42, which funnels traffic to the interstate. Despite a traffic study approved by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, residents and local officials, including Union Mayor Larry Solomon, raised issues about the development's impact on local infrastructure and safety.
