Oregon to Implement Significant Health Insurance Premium Increases in 2027
Oregon's financial regulators have announced a significant increase in health insurance premiums for individuals and small businesses on the state's health insurance marketplace. The average premium for individual consumers is set to rise by 16%, while small businesses will see a 15.5% increase. This decision follows proposals from major health insurance companies citing increased medical costs and the loss of some marketplace insurers. The rate hikes are partly attributed to the expiration of enhanced tax credits under the Affordable Care Act, which previously made health insurance more affordable for many Oregonians. The new rates are expected to be finalized in early September, with the increases impacting approximately 120,000 residents who no longer qualify for subsidies.
