Menlo Park Firefighters Rescue Missing Dog Swimming in San Francisco Bay
Firefighters from the Menlo Park fire protection district successfully rescued a small dog that had been missing for weeks after it was found swimming in the San Francisco Bay. The dog went missing over the Fourth of July weekend, and was spotted entering the bay near the Dumbarton Bridge in East Palo Alto on July 16. The rescue operation involved mobilizing two trucks, a boat, and an airboat, as well as using binoculars and a drone to locate the dog. The rescue team, which included both fire and police officers, managed to save the dog and later handed it over to the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), which reunited the dog with its family.
