Tampa Veterans' Lawyer Warns of Mental Health Claim Pitfalls Amid High Denial Rates
Tampa Veterans’ Disability Attorney David W. Magann is advising Florida veterans to meticulously review their mental health-related VA disability claims. Recent data indicates that approximately one-third of these claims are denied, leaving many veterans without the benefits they seek. Florida, home to a large veteran population, faces significant challenges as many veterans manage conditions like PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Magann emphasizes the importance of detailed documentation, as the VA relies heavily on existing records rather than verbal accounts during brief evaluations. He warns that rushed evaluations due to high demand can lead to inadequate assessments, particularly in PTSD cases where clear documentation of in-service stressors is crucial.
