South Korean Intelligence Assesses Kim Ju-ae as North Korean Successor
South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) has assessed that Kim Ju-ae, the daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has effectively entered the stage of being designated as his successor. This evaluation was shared during a closed-door briefing to the South Korean National Assembly's intelligence committee. According to Youn Kun-young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, the NIS believes that Kim Ju-ae's increasing visibility in state media and public appearances alongside her father is a deliberate strategy to prepare her for leadership. Her public debut occurred in November 2022 during the coverage of a Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile test, immediately associating her with the country's strategic security.
