Connecticut Democrat John Larson Defeated by Younger Challenger in Primary
Connecticut Representative John B. Larson, a 14-term incumbent, lost the Democratic primary for the state's 1st District to former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin. Bronin, who campaigned on the need for generational change, secured 54% of the vote compared to Larson's 33%. The primary did not follow traditional ideological lines but focused on the need for new energy to counter President Trump. Bronin, a Navy veteran and former Obama administration official, will face Republican Amy Chai in the November election. Larson, who has served since 1998, emphasized his experience and progressive credentials during the campaign.
