Billionaire Michael Moritz Launches $150 Million Competition to Revitalize San Francisco
Michael Moritz, former chairman of Sequoia Capital, and his wife Harriet Heyman have announced a global competition through their Crankstart foundation, offering up to $150 million to transform San Francisco. The 'Boundless San Francisco' competition invites proposals from around the world, with the potential to receive between $10 million and $50 million for innovative ideas aimed at improving the city. The competition is open to proposals in any subject area, reflecting the belief that transformative ideas can come from anywhere. The selection process will involve a multi-tier evaluation, with finalists receiving technical support and development grants. The final awardees will be selected in the fall of 2027.
