Congressman Frank Pallone Announces $9.6 Million Federal Award for Carteret Ferry Service Expansion
Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) has announced a significant federal award of $9.6 million from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for the Carteret Ferry Service Expansion Project. This funding is specifically allocated to NJ TRANSIT for the purchase of a new ferry vessel. The investment is part of a broader effort to establish passenger ferry service between Central New Jersey and New York City, aiming to provide commuters with an alternative to road and rail travel. According to Carteret Mayor Dan Reiman, this substantial grant funding was made possible due to strong congressional support for public transportation, with particular acknowledgment given to New Jersey’s congressional delegation, including Senator Cory Booker and Senator Andy Kim, and Congressman Pallone himself. Mayor Reiman highlighted Senator Booker's role as a leading advocate for public transportation, renewable energy, and urban community revitalization in New Jersey.
