Hampshire College to Close at End of Fall Semester Amid Financial Struggles
Hampshire College, located in Amherst, Massachusetts, has announced it will close at the end of the fall semester due to financial difficulties. The college has faced challenges such as declining enrollment, rising costs, and an unstable funding environment since 2019. Despite efforts to secure financial stability, including raising over $55 million, the college's board of trustees determined there was no viable path forward. Current students will be supported through their transition, with options to complete their education at partner institutions.
