Consumer Reports Investigates Safety Concerns Over Pacifiers Sold Online
Consumer Reports has conducted an investigation into the safety of pacifiers available in the U.S. market, particularly those sold online through platforms like Amazon, eBay, and Temu. The investigation revealed that while most pacifiers adhere to safety standards, some products, especially those sold by third-party sellers, may not have undergone proper safety testing. Since 2014, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 178 reports related to pacifiers, including incidents of choking and one death. Consumer Reports tested twenty pacifiers for potential hazards such as choking risks and harmful chemicals. The findings highlighted concerns with certain products, including 'blinged out' pacifiers with rhinestones and secondhand items that do not meet safety standards. Amazon and eBay have responded by stating their compliance with safety regulations and removal of flagged listings.
