New York 5K Event Aims to Raise Funds for Injured Veterans
Building Homes for Heroes, a national organization dedicated to providing homes for injured veterans, is hosting its second annual 'Honoring Our Heroes' 5K Run/Walk in Long Island, New York. The event aims to raise funds to provide mortgage-free homes and resources for wounded veterans, first responders, and their families. Founded by Andy Pujol in 2006, the organization has grown into a national movement, hoping to complete its 500th home for a disabled veteran or first responder this year. The 5K event, organized by Marine Corps veteran Daniel Hernandez, includes a 1-mile kids' fun run and encourages nationwide participation through online registration. The goal is to raise $10,000, surpassing last year's $7,500.
