FBI Dismantles W3LL Phishing Platform, Disrupting $20 Million Cybercrime Operation
The FBI, in collaboration with the Indonesian National Police, has dismantled the W3LL phishing platform, a cybercrime operation responsible for stealing approximately $20 million. The platform, active from 2019 to 2023, targeted Microsoft 365 accounts and other services, allowing criminals to bypass multi-factor authentication. The W3LL phishing kit was sold online, providing tools for creating phishing websites and capturing login credentials. The operation included customer support and tutorials for users, making it accessible even to those with limited technical skills. A suspect believed to be the developer, known as G.L, has been detained.
