Cambridge University Professor Resigns Amid Plagiarism Investigation
Professor Jason Arday, the youngest Black professor ever appointed at the University of Cambridge, has resigned following the university's decision to investigate allegations of plagiarism in his academic work. Arday, who was appointed in 2023, faced scrutiny after the Times of London published an analysis of his 2015 Ph.D. thesis, highlighting similarities with another researcher's work. The investigation was prompted by new information regarding Arday's qualifications and honorary appointments. Despite initially standing by Arday, Cambridge decided to open an inquiry after further evidence suggested some of his research might have been fabricated. Arday, who overcame significant personal challenges including dyslexia and autism, has denied the allegations but admitted to some mistakes due to a lack of supervision during his doctoral studies.
