Pfizer's BRAFTOVI Receives Priority Access in Ontario, Enhancing Cancer Treatment for Canadians
Pfizer Canada has announced that its cancer therapy, BRAFTOVI (encorafenib), will be funded under Ontario's Funding Accelerated for Specific Treatments (FAST) program. This decision follows a positive reimbursement recommendation from the Canadian Drug Agency. Ontario is the first province to fund BRAFTOVI for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) with a BRAF V600E mutation. The FAST program aims to accelerate access to innovative cancer therapies, reducing the average wait time for oncology drugs, which is currently about 18.9 months in Canada. The program is seen as a significant step in improving timely access to high-quality cancer treatments.
