Argentina's Jewish Community Uses World Cup Slogan to Demand Justice for AMIA Bombing
Argentina's Jewish community marked the 32nd anniversary of the AMIA bombing, the worst terrorist attack in the country's history, by adopting a World Cup-inspired campaign slogan, 'Today we cannot lose ... our memory.' This slogan echoes the national sentiment during the World Cup, aiming to draw attention to the unresolved case of the 1994 bombing of the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, which killed 85 people. Despite the passage of time, no one has been convicted for the attack, which Argentine courts have classified as a 'crime against humanity.' The community is pushing for trials in absentia for Iranian and Hezbollah suspects, as Iran has refused to cooperate with international arrest warrants. The campaign seeks to maintain pressure on the Argentine government and the international community to pursue justice.
