Guernsey's Digital Greenhouse Project Faces Uncertain Future Amid Review
The Digital Greenhouse project in Guernsey, which has been supporting start-ups and entrepreneurs since 2016, is currently under review by the Economic Development Committee. The project provides an alternative to traditional office spaces, receiving an annual grant of £450,000 from the States of Guernsey. Concerns have been raised about the project's cost and its potential competition with the private sector. Marko Kennedy, a security architect and regular user of the space, expressed that losing the co-working hub could force him to quit his job, as he is the only employee of his company in Guernsey. The review aims to assess whether the hub meets the economic needs of supporting start-ups and scale-up businesses, with results expected within the next 12 months.
