American Academy of Dermatology Issues Guidelines for Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis
The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) has released its first-ever guidelines for the prevention and management of atopic dermatitis (eczema) in pediatric patients. The guidelines emphasize the unique safety, dosing, and patient-caregiver-clinician interactions for individuals under 18. Eczema affects up to 25% of children worldwide, characterized by itchy skin, dry patches, and rashes. The guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for topical therapies, phototherapy, and systemic treatments, highlighting the importance of early intervention to improve symptoms and quality of life for children and their families.
